Silent Assassins

Shenton College students participated outstandingly at this year’s RoboCup state event held at Curtin University, competing against teams from as far north as Port Hedland and south to Augusta. Shenton had three teams competing and all demonstrated their creativity, team work and problem solving skills, with two of the teams battling it through to the finals. EGGS (Year 8 boys) showed great persistence and team work but just missed out in the knockout round but the senior team, the Silent Assassins (Robert Crew, Adrian Tan and Sean Yeo) took out the top prize!

Robotics is fun, but to actually build an original robot that is capable of competing in RoboCup is a significant achievement that requires dedication and perseverance by both the students and the staff involved. Thank you to all staff who assisted and supported the students over the past six months, and helped achieve these amazing results.

World Scholar’s Cup Success

WORLD SCHOLAR’S CUP 2016

Another year of debating, challenges, collaborative writing, Scholar’s Bowl and of course… alpacas. On the 3rd and 4th of June, 45 students from Years 7 – 12 spent two days at Scotch College competing against some of Perth’s top schools.

As always we experienced great success, seeing our students leave with medals, trophies and alpacas a plenty!

One of our Junior Teams finished as the 5th placed team (congratulations John De Blanc, Amy Mack and Alice Millichip) whereas in the Senior division our teams took out 5th (Willem De Blanc, Chen Xi Zony Li, and Evan Blandin de Chalain), 4th (Isobel Leman, Chloe Marsh and Ben Gaudin) and 2nd (Michelle Lam, Georgia Ngo and Morgan Crockett).

WSC veteran Michelle Lam finished with a bang, Champion Scholar for the Perth round, and the second highest score in the WORLD!

Congratulations to all of this year’s competitors.
