Sister School

We have a number of Sister School arrangements and cultural exchange agreements with schools in the Asian region – primarily those that, like Shenton College, share a strong connection with their local universities.

Japan

Kashiwa Municipal High School

Our agreement with Kashiwa Municipal High School involves reciprocal biyearly visits and aims to:

  • promote understandings between our cultures and a sense of our role in the global community
  • encourage high level language and cultural engagement for students through witnessing and participating in Japanese cultural activities
  • provide an opportunity for our students to utilise linguistic skills while staying with a Japanese family and attending Kashiwa Municipal High School

Komazawa University Senior High School

With our other Senior School Sister School, Komazawa University Senior School, we undertake biyearly reciprocal exchanges, with the next to occur in 2021. Together our schools aim to:

  • promote understandings between our cultures and a sense of our role in the global community
  • encourage high level engagement for students in an immersion setting
  • provide an opportunity for our students to use linguistic skills gained through their Languages study at Shenton College

China

As part of Perth’s broader Sister City relationship with Chengdu in China, Shenton has represented Perth City through cultural exchange events with Chengdu and the wider Sichuan Province. We have formalised a sister school relationship with the Sichuan Middle School Number 3, a school affiliated with Sichuan University that has a focus on teacher and student exchange, particularly in the areas of Science, Languages and Music. In 2014 a Shenton College music ensemble performed at the Chengdu Sister City International Youth Music festival as special guests of the Chengdu Municipal Foreign Affairs Office.

Singapore

Our exchange agreement with the National University of Singapore High School of Mathematics and Science aims to:

  • Foster intercultural and global understanding
  • Promote high level engagement for students
  • Provide opportunities for our students to learn and interact with their international peers
  • Develop capacity to foster new partnerships.
