Shenton Among The Top Five teams in the World Scholar’s Cup

During weekend of the 6th and 7th of June over 150 students came to Shenton College to compete in the Perth Round of the World Scholar’s Cup responding to the theme ‘The World Unbound’ across History, Science, Social Studies, Literature and the Arts. The students competed in Collaborative Writing, Scholar’s Challenge, Team Debate and Scholar’s Bowl. With students from a range of schools including Shenton College, Scotch, Iona, Trinity, Kelmscott, Perth Modern, Georgiana Molloy and Wesley. The competition has doubled in numbers since 2014!

Our students from Years 7 – 11 had a fantastic time and were also very successful. There were many awards recognising individual achievements in each of the areas: Literature, Science, The Arts, Social Studies and History and we also placed among the top five teams for each of the competition challenges.

We’re pleased to report Shenton College teams were awarded Second Place overall in the Junior level of competition, as well as Third Place and First Place overall in the Seniors. Further, we saw a number of confident and highly skilled Shenton College musicians among the students who volunteered to perform at the Scholar’s Show on Sunday.
Photos and the full list of awards will be published in the next issue of Shenton Highlights.
