Congratulations to our Debating Quarter-finalists and many thanks to our massive Shenton College audience – it really makes a difference to our students seeing a crowd made up of mostly Shenton supporters.
We are now in the last finals rounds and I’m pleased to announce that two Shenton College teams have progressed to the Semi-finals which will be held here at Shenton College in the Swanbourne and Hollywood Lecture Theatres on Tuesday 18th August from 6pm.
Our Junior Semi-finalist team, Year 10s Natasha Tonga, Xavier Hill Wilson and Paris Javid will face Newman College and will debate the negative side of the topic ‘That the international community should offer dictators amnesty from prosecution in return for their abdication from power’. The Year 10s will begin at 7.20pm.
Our Senior Semi-finalist team, Yr 12s Cindy Shi, Laura Gunning and Ava McLaughlin will prepare an impromptu debate on an unseen topic against Aquinas College. The Year 12s will begin at 8.15pm.
All Shenton students and suppporters are welcome to come along and watch these outstanding teams in action.
