PHYSICAL EDUCATION STUDIES 1A & 1B (APES, 1BPES) Year 11 & 12 Course

This course id directed at Yr 11 and Yr 12 students not seeking to use this subject for university entrance.
Pre-requisites
Students should have achieved at least a level 4 in
Skills for Physical Activity and Self Management Skills and have an enthusiastic
approach to Physical and Health Education.
Details
The focus of the course is for students to build and
extend personal participant and participation profiles through content such
as movement skills, skill transfer, fitness for physical activity, coaching
and officiating, peer profiling, mental preparation and tactical analysis in
games, roles in teams and gender in sport.
Students will progressively develop skills, knowledge and understanding that will enable them to pursue their personal interests and potential in physical activity as athletes, coaches, officials and/or administrators. Enhanced self-understanding and respect and concern for others are a focus throughout the course of study.
Assessment in this course is performance, response and investigation based with approximately half the course time being devoted to physical activity.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION STUDIES 2A & 2B (2APES, 2BPES) Year 11 & 12 Course 2008
This course is directed at Yr 12 students who are seeking to use this subject for university entrance. It is recommended for Yr 11 students who are university bound and will do PE Studies 3A & 3B in Yr 12. Each semester unit and the pair must be studied to be eligible to sit university entrance examinations in Physical Education Studies.
Prerequisites
Students should have achieved at least a level 5 in Skills for Physical
Activity and Self Management Skills and have an enthusiastic approach to
Physical and Health Education. It is preferred that students will have
studied Physical Education Studies 1A and 1B.
Description

practice, fitness and conditioning, mental preparation and tactical analysis
in games, specific training regimes, goal setting, coaching, officiating,
leadership and inclusivity in sport.
Students will progressively develop skills, knowledge and understanding that will enable them to pursue their personal interests and potential in physical activity as athletes, coaches, officials and/or administrators. Enhanced self-understanding and respect and concern for others are a focus throughout the course of study.
