Assessment Policy

Years 11 and 12

Students entering Year 11 have a wide choice of tertiary entrance (TEE) and wholly-school assessed (WSA/Non-TEE) subjects from which to choose in preparation for TAFE and / or University Entrance, and to meet their particular needs and interests.

Some subjects contain Units of Competency and form part of the College’s Vocational Education and Training Program (VET).

Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) is available as an accredited subject in Years 11 and 12. Through on-the-job placements, students can acquire skills and knowledge in an industry setting.

In Year 11, students are required to study six (6) subjects.

In Year 12, the normal requirement is for students to also study six (6) subjects. These usually follow-on from subjects studied in Year 11, although it is possible to make changes.

For some students in Year 12, approval may be given for one subject to be replaced by private study on the timetable. This approval is dependent on the outcome of an interview between the student and parent and the Course and Careers Adviser.

Special programs for all students in Years 11 and 12 are:

  • Mentor Program
  • Fitness for Life Program
