Independent Public School

A Unique Independent Public School

Formed in 2001 after the amalgamation of Hollywood and Swanbourne Senior High Schools, two prominent and well respected local schools, Shenton College has a strong public school tradition of excellence, coupled with a fresh and exciting new vision. As an independent public school, we have an increased ability to deliver tailored, high quality education experiences that directly respond to our community context and needs.

Right from the beginning of our journey we’ve been well-received and supported by the community. In 2013 we obtained outstanding feedback in the Independent Review of our IPS status, and later that year we led at the WA Education Awards, taking out School of the Year, Principal of the Year, and Beginning Teacher of the Year. In 2014 we were also selected for review by the Exemplary Review Group who came to analysis the success of our work; their report can be read here. Our most recent Independent Review in 2016 was equally positive, praising the school for sustained ‘exceptional’ student performance.

Consistent recognition as one of Australia’s most outstanding schools has affirmed our approach, and deepened our commitment to our distinctive and successful pillars of creativity, innovation and excellence.
